Richard films Knight Rider episode [23 Dec 08] *** Richard appears on NBC's "Knight Rider" *** -- Richard completed work in Hawaii in late October on "Knight to King's Pawn," an upcoming episode of NBC's new "Knight Rider" series. Based on the hit 1980's original, the new series follows the exploits of Michael Traceur (Justin Bruening) and the latest version of KITT, this time embodied in a hot Ford Mustang and voiced by Val Kilmer.

In addition to Bruening, the cast includes Deanna Russo (Sarah), Paul Campbell (Billy), Smith Cho (Zoe), Sydney Poitier, Yancey Arias, and Bruce Davison

Richard's episode, "Knight to King's Pawn," is listed as Episode 1.12, and he plays Jack Hurst, an NSA commander with intimate knowledge of the KITT program who storms in and shuts down the SSC, removing KITT's chip and stealing his 'body' for his own unsavory purposes.

"Knight to King's Pawn" is also referred to as "The KARR episode," as it features the return of 1980's-era KITT's nemesis, the amoral and murderous KARR first featured in the original series.

"Knight to King's Pawn" will most likely air on Wednesday, January 21st.

Richatd plays Logan Ayers in NIP/TUCK [23 Dec 08]*** Richard's episode of the FX Network's NIP/TUCK to air in February 2009 *** -- Richard joined the cast of "NIP/TUCK" in mid-June for episode 5.21, titled "Allegra Calderella." Part of an 8-episode block delayed by the WGA strike, "Allegra Calderella" and its back 8 brethren will begin airing in January 2009, according to a new FX Networks press release:

"LOS ANGELES, November 12, 2008 FX announced the return dates of two of its award-winning dramas, Nip/Tuck and Damages. The continuation of the fifth season of Nip/Tuck begins on Tuesday, January 6 at 10 PM E/P for eight weeks ..."

Based on the January 6th start date, "Allegra Calderella" will air on February 17th. Richard plays Dr. Logan Ayers, a plastic surgeon and apparent acquaintance of Drs. Troy and McNamara (series leads Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh).

The casting breakdown for Ayers has this to say of the character: "35-45, extremely attractive and refined, James Bond, after a martini. He is a plastic surgeon with impeccable style and taste whose obessive-compulsive behavior is just one symptom of his extreme sexual compulsion."  The breakdown goes on to specify that the actor cast in the role must be comfortable with sexual situations and rear nudity.

Richard plays Sheriff Bracke in Friday the 13th [23 Dec 08] *** Richard films role in "Friday the 13th" in Austin, TX*** -- Richard joined Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural," "Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage"), Derek Mears ("The Hills have Eyes II"), and Nana Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), among others, in the Platinum Dunes produced reimagining of the 1980's horror hit, "Friday the 13th."

Richard plays Sheriff Bracke in the movie, which is set between the events of the first and second "Friday the 13th" films; Pamela (Nana Visitor) Voorhees, Jason's mad, mad mother and the actual killer of the first film, is dead and already enshrined in Jason's (Derek Mears) hovel hideaway, while Jason is all grown up and ready to take up his mother's machete.

Jared Padalecki plays a journalist drawn to Camp Crystal Lake to chronicle the ghastly events and history of the place; Richard's sheriff is presumably the long arm of the Law in the Crystal Lake area and may also be a witness to the gory aftermath of Mother Voorhees' rampage.

As one would expect in a "Friday the 13th" story, the cast is fleshed out with a selection of young people destined to run afoul of Jason Voorhees as they snoop about the ramshackle remains of Camp Crystal Lake and engage in impromptu bawdy romps amidst the ruins. Sadly, based on the recently-released trailer, Sheriff Bracke also suffers the fate common to Crystal Lake lawmen who run afoul of the Voorhees clan.

The film is currently expected to hit theaters on Friday, February 13th, 2009.

Wellington is the patriarch of an Island blue-blood family and the father of bride-to-be Trish ("Supernatural's" Katie Cassidy), whose "destination wedding" brings the characters together on picturesque Harper's Island.

The show is currently scheduled to premiere at 10:00pm ET on Thursday, April 19th and to remain in the post-CSI berth throughout its 13-episode run.

Also featured in the cast are Jim Beaver ("Supernatural"), Elaine Cassidy, Christopher Gorham ("Ugly Betty"), Cameron Richardson ("Point Pleasant"), and Harry Hamlin ("L.A. Law," "Veronica Mars"). "Harper's Island" is created by Ari Schlossberg and executive produced by Jon Turteltaub, with Jeffrey Bell serving as showrunner.

CBS gave the following brief description of the show:

"The new drama, HARPER'S ISLAND, is a murder mystery that unfolds as friends and family attend week-long festivities at a destination wedding on a secluded and picturesque island off the coast of Seattle, infamous for a homicidal maniac's rampage seven years ago."

Richard plays Robert Galatin on Just Shoot Me [23 Dec 08]*** Richard's episode of "Just Shoot Me" airs on TBS in December *** -- Richard plays action hero -- and Mama's boy --  Robert "The Nomad" Galatin in "Mum's The Word," airing Tuesday, December 30th at 2:00pm ET.

Nina Van Horn (Wendie Malick) is returning to the Blush offices when she literally walks into famed action hero Robert Galatin, who is filming an episode of "The Nomad" on the sidewalk outside.

Each is immediately smitten with the other and Robert is soon eagerly pursuing Nina, appearing in the Blush offices with flowers in hand. Nina accepts Robert's invitation to an evening of romance, never expecting to be joined by Robert's diminutive, yet domineering, mother.

Natually, the two women are almost immediately at odds, and Nina tells Robert he must send the aged materfamilias packing if he expects to win her affections.  Robert quickly gives Mother her marching orders and turns his eye towards the approving Nina. Unfortunately, Mother's hold on her son is strong, and the sight of her shawl sends Robert reeling, becoming increasingly frantic and filled with doubt until he is bawling.

When an insistent tapping on the door proves to be Mother, Robert drops to his knees and wraps his arms around her, crying "Oh, Mother, Mother, never leave me, never-never!"

Nina takes one look at the shocking tableau and quits the scene in disgust while Mother Victorious smirks at her.

Catch Richard in Hostel Part 2 on Showtime [23 Dec 08] *** Richard Burgi on SHOWTIME when Eli Roth's "Hostel: Part II" plays on Cable*** -- Richard worked in Prague, Czech Republic in late October 2006 on the much-anticipated sequel to writer-director Eli Roth's horror blockbuster, "Hostel."  The movie is now just days away from its January 3rd Showtime premiere.

Eli Roth gave some teasing details on "Hostel: Part II," including an idea of how Richard's character Todd Rogers and his buddy Stuart (Roger Bart) McGenty fit into the overall story.  Said Roth:

"The film is also following two guys who go through this experience to kill somebody. And we know them really well, and they are very, very likeable and they're very normal. It seems like there's nothing psycho about them, except they are looking for some excitement in their life because they are bored. ... That's going to be a parallel story. We see it from the girl's perspective and we see it from the client's perspective. We inter-cut both stories until they all meet in this horrible place. So, we're going to learn everything about the organization, all the minutiae of it..."

Richard's season of REAPER nov available on DVD [23 Dec 08]*** Richard's episode of "Reaper" now available on DVD *** -- The complete Season One DVD set of "REAPER" is now available for purchase -- just in time for Christmas!  (Amazon purchase info available at bottom of News page).

Richard joined the Vancouver-based cast of "REAPER" in mid-April for episode 1.17, titled "The Leak," which premiered on Tuesday, May 13th at 9:00pm ET.

He plays Mike Volta, a soul condemned to hell for the sin of lust, as evidenced by a lifetime of truly epic womanizing and bed-hopping. Mike seems charming, personable, and funny, and takes reluctant soul-hunter Sam's (Bret Harrison) capture of him with surprising grace.

What Sam doesn't realize is that Mike doesn't fear being returned to hell, as he has someone on the inside -- their DMV demon buddy Gladys --  who's helping him escape. This doesn't sit well with the Devil (Ray Wise), who wants the leak plugged once and for all, and wants Sam to find out who the leak is.

At first, Sam doesn't understand why Satan wants Volta back under lock and key -- other than his ceaseless philandering, he seems harmless enough. Then Satan shows Sam the aftermath of Volta's dalliances -- relationships laid waste and people left dead. When cornered, Volta shows his true, unsavory colors.

Richard plays Craig Martin, husband of Kim Basinger's Jessica Martin.

Craig secures the camera in his safety deposit box, and calls to warn Jessica. Unfortunately, the crooked cops get to the Martin home before Jessica gets the message.

Decoys (2003) DVD [US market version] -- $12.99 (13% discount)

Richard plays Detective Francis Kirk in this tongue-in-cheek take on the "aliens need humans to reproduce" sci-fi theme. Director Matt Hastings has described "Decoys" as a meeting of "American Pie" and "Species."

There are two versions of the DVD currently available. The US-market version available through does not include the deleted scenes and bloopers included in the Canadian-market version (see next entry).

Canadian-market Decoys DVD has deleted scenes and bloopers

New release: 07 June 2005

The Canadian-market DVD includes an assortment of deleted scenes, the bloopers, a "making of" special, and a photo gallery. The deleted scenes help explain some aspects of the film which are confusing or vague in the theatrical release, and Richard's scenes and bloopers are hilarious.

[23 Dec 08] *** Write to Richard care of the RBFC! *** -- Richard has asked us to encourage anyone interested in sending cards or letters to him to use the RBFC mailing address, which is listed below.  This allows Richard to better handle his incoming mail, which he certainly enjoys receiving, provided it comes through appropriate channels.

Mr. Richard Burgi
10153 1/2 Riverside Drive, #494
Toluca Lake, CA 91602

We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be sent to Richard's home address!  Receiving fan mail through his home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially from the standpoint of privacy and safety.  If you have come across what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We -- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know where you came across the address by using this e-mail link to the RBFC.

While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts be sent to him.  Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming.  Richard would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to a local children's shelter or literacy program, or to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center .
