[11/15/01] *** Richard's feature film, "Wheelmen," is now in production *** -- Richard recently started work on the indie feature film "Wheelmen." Lexi Alexander, one of the film's producers, very kindly shared some of the production basics with us. Richard is playing Nick Torino -- a "former hotshot ambulance driver who teams up with a group of eclectic L.A. limo drivers to prevent a kidnapping attempt of the Vice President."
According to Alexander, "Richard's love interest will be played by Erin Daniels, who just finished starring in Robin Williams' new movie 'One Hour Photo.' The movie also stars William Gregory Lee (Dark Angel), Rainn Wilson (Almost Famous, America's Sweethearts, Galaxy Quest), Jason Kravits (The Practice), and many more recognizable names."
Also joining the cast of "Wheelmen" are James Avery
(The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Elya Baskin (13 Days, Air Force One),
Fairman (13 Days, Forces of Nature), Desmond Askew (Go), Dwight
Ensell (Chasing Amy), and Eileen Grubba (Rats), with a possible
cameo by Dougie Brimson.
The director, Dirk Hagen, and the producers are said to be "very excited to have Richard on board" the production.
We will, of course, update this information as soon as we learn further details.
(Thanks to Lexi Alexander for the "Wheelmen" information!)
[12/06/01]*** German and Canadian viewers, catch Richard in FOX's controversial and short-lived "Action" ***
Starting November 19th, Germany's Premiere World will be airing the controversial FOX sitcom "Action" on its Comedy Channel.
Canadian viewers can catch up with Richard's walk on the sitcom wild side when "Action" launches on Canadian Bravo starting Saturday, December 8th. Two episodes will be shown back to back with the first starting at 11:45pm ET and the second starting at 12:15pm ET. For exact dates and times, check the Canadian Bravo website at http://www.bravo.ca/
Richard appears in two episodes -- "Pilot" (the first episode) and "Blowhard" (the fourth) -- as action-movie hero Cole Riccardi.
When introduced in the pilot episode, Cole Riccardi( Richard Burgi) is attending the premiere party for his latest movie, "Slow Torture," made by producer Peter Dragon (Jay Mohr). Riccardi schmoozes with the press and stops for a photo op with Dragon before settling in at the head table and chatting up Dragon's unintended guest for the evening, child actress turned call girl, Wendy (Illeana Douglas). Cole, it turns out, once guest-starred on Wendy's television show.
Sadly, "Slow Torture" is a flop, leaving Dragon in hot water with his financial backers and in search of a make-or-break movie. With Wendy's help, Dragon finds the one script with real potential -- "Beverly Hills Gun Club."
Cole returns in "Blowhard," the fourth episode of "Action." Dragon has decided to hire Riccardi to play the hero in his new movie, "Beverly Hills Gun Club." No sooner has Dragon signed a contract with Riccardi than Cole appears on his doorstep late one night with a surprise announcement -- he's gay, and wants to come out of the closet. Peter sees his new movie -- and career -- going down the tubes, so he schemes to keep Cole safely in the closet by claiming to be a closeted gay man himself. Cole gets the wrong impression and makes romantic advances which Peter, trapped by his lies, cannot get out of.
Dragon is in for another shock when his new financial backers announce they do not want Riccardi in the movie. With Riccardi signed to a pay or play contract, Dragon has to somehow get his star to back out of the project. Dragon pays a visit to Cole's apartment and convinces him to come out, turn his back on Hollywood, and seek fame and fortune on the stage in New York. Riccardi agrees, and comes out on national television -- E! News Daily, no less -- and decides to out his "lover," Peter Dragon, in the process.

[01/30/01]*** Write to Richard care of the RBFC! *** -- Richard has asked us to encourage anyone interested in sending cards or letters to him to use the RBFC mailing address, which is listed below. This allows Richard to better handle his incoming mail, which he certainly enjoys receiving, provided it comes through appropriate channels.
Mr. Richard Burgi
We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We -- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know where you came across the address by using this e-mail link to the RBFC.
While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to a local children's shelter or literacy program.
[10/27/01]*** "The Sentinel" still on SciFi Channel broadcast hiatus *** -- When "The Sentinel" disappeared from Sci-Fi's broadcasts and schedule listings in mid-July, SOS (Support Our Sentinel) contacted the Sci-Fi Channel and learned the following:
SOS Advisory - The Sentinel on Sci-Fi (advisory issued July 23, 2001)
In two separate conversations with the Sci-Fi Channel on July 18, SOS has learned of the following.
Chris Regina, Director of Programming, and Bonnie Hammer's office confirm that The Sentinel has been removed from the Sci-Fi schedule, most likely for the remainder of 2001. Both sources state that this is for "budgetary reasons." This was further explained by Regina as Sci-Fi having exhausted their budget for showing The Sentinel for this year. They have a certain dollar amount to spend on the showings, and it must be spread out.
Both state that this action is for this year. Both say that The Sentinel will be back in January 2002. Regina further stated that while January is more likely, there is the possibility that it will be back as early as October.
Earlier this year, Chris Regina indicated to SOS that The Sentinel was a property that Sci-Fi would continue to use. At that time, he claimed that they had no current plans to remove The Sentinel from the Sci-Fi schedule permanently, at least through 2001
This statement, along with his most recent information, would seem to mean that we can expect to see The Sentinel's eventual return to Sci-Fi.
In the meantime, SOS advises that Sentinel (and Burgi) fans send the folks at Sci-Fi periodic reminders that their Sentinel audience is still in place and eagerly anticipating the show's return to the Sci-Fi schedule. This can easily be done via e-mail, or through the Sci-Fi website's "feedback" system -- or, if one feels especially energetic, by post-card or letter.

(Thanks to SOS for the advisory announcement. Visit SciFi's website for information on the network and its schedule or e-mail SciFi at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org with comments on Richard Burgi and The Sentinel).
