[27 Nov 09] *** Richard's Season
6 Desperate Housewives run as Karl Mayer likely drawing to a close***
-- Karl, who was gradually reintroduced into the character mix during the
last month or so of Season 5, has been busy romancing, bedding, and finally
proposing to the increasingly conflicted Bree Van de Kamp Hodge (Marcia
Cross) as Season 6 has progressed.
Richard's contracted ten episodes will come to their conclusion along
with the ill-starred romance between Karl and Bree in episodes 6.10 and
6.11, when series creator Marc Cherry has promised a shocking climax
to the Karl/Bree storyline.
"Boom Crunch," episode 6.10, serves as the mid-season cliffhanger and
revolves around a small plane crashing into Wisteria Lane generally and
the Hodge manse specifically, trapping several people. At last report,
five people were expected to die in the aftermath. As Cherry has announced
that this episode will feature the "shocking conclusion" to the Karl/Bree/Orson
triangle, it seems increasingly likely that Karl is not long for this world.
Cherry gave reporter William Keck some hints as to those fated to die
in the December 6th episode. Says Keck:
"Exec producer Marc Cherry tells me the plane crashing into Desperate
Housewives’ December 6 Christmas party will claim three characters’ lives—one
minor, one central and one biggie who’s been on since Season 1.
As for that longtime cast member, Cherry says, “The fans are going to
be sad over this one, but it was a good time to end this character’s story
line.” (I’d start digging a grave for either Ricardo Chavira’s Carlos or
Richard Burgi’s Karl.) The producer praises his fired actor for taking
the news “with a lot of class” (unlike a certain blonde who blasted the
show after her exit last season). “This person stood up at our table read
and told everyone what a joy it was to be a part of the show,” he says."
The cliffhanger will conclude in episode 6.11, which will air when the
show returns ito the air in January 2010.

[27 Nov 09]*** Richard's episode
of Seinfeld to air on TBS ***
-- Catch Richard in "The Hamptons"
on Friday, November 27th at 2:00pm ET during TBS's "Seinfeld Day
After Thanksgiving Stunt."
Richard plays Dr. Ben Feffa in "The Hamptons," where he joins Jerry,
Kramer, George, and Elaine at the beachside house of friends who've recently
had a baby. Dr. Ben, the couple's pediatrician, has also invited along
for the weekend.
When Ben describes Elaine as "breathtaking," she is quite flattered,
and soon taken with the handsome doctor. Then she, Jerry, Kramer, and George
get a good look at the baby Dr. Ben has also described as "breathtaking"
-- and realize the child is breathtakingly ugly.
Confused and more than a little alarmed to be described with the same
word as the hideous infant, Elaine frets and kvetches until she finally
works up the nerve to ask Ben exactly what "breathtaking" means to him.
Of course, the conversation does not go well, and Elaine's potential romance
with the good doctor dies a-borning.
Meanwhile, George also manages to derail a potential romance by
fixating on what he perceives as his girlfriend's disappointment with his
impedimenta -- seems a swim in the ocean has resulted in some unfortunate
degree of "shrinkage."

[27 Nov 09]*** Richard's Season
4 & 5 episodes of NBC's Las Vegas to air in December on TNT ***
--
Richard's four back-to-back Season 4 & 5 episodes of Las Vegas will
air on TNT in a "two by two" 2-day span, with "Bare Chested in The Park"
and "Junk in The Trunk" airing on Monday, December 7th at 12:00 noon and
1:00pm ET respectively, and "Heroes" and "A Hero Ain't Nothing But A Sandwich
airing at 12:00 noon and 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 8th. Originally
airing on NBC in early 2007, the four episodes set up scenarios that lead
into (and out of) the cliffhanger season finale.
"Bare Chested in the Park" introduced us to one of the Bellagio
Hotel's regular "whales," Vince (Richard Burgi) Peterson, a hedge-fund
billionaire with a taste for high-stakes gambling.
Sam (Vanessa Marcil)
schemes to woo Peterson away from the Bellagio and sees to it that he is
coddled, cosseted, and carefully cultivated at the Montecito.
"Junk in the Trunk" finds Sam the new owner of the Montecito,
and one saddled with an overwhelming tax debt. Peterson wines, dines, and
woos Sam, going so far as to propose marriage on bended knee. Lured to
his suite for a romantic dinner, Sam learns Peterson has known all along
of her financial situation. Of course, she's been sipping on a drugged
flute of champagne the whole while and passes out, allowing Vince to truss
her up and stuff her into a padded steamer trunk.
"Heroes" finds Sam in dire straits, still locked away in the
cramped trunk. The depth of Peterson's depravity becomes increasingly evident
as he gleefully taunts and torments her -- seems he's done this before,
this abduction of young women, and gotten away with it. Sam is promised
a hell on earth as Vince checks out of the Montecito and heads for his
private jet, Sam in tow in her tiny trunk. Their chapter ends with Vince's
jet soaring into the night.
"A Hero Ain't Nothing but a Sandwich" opens seconds after
"Heroes" ends and finds Peterson dragging Sam out of the trunk in order
to terrify and abuse her sexually. Sam manages to pull the handle on the
jet's emergency exit and Vince makes an impromptu exit and fall to earth
sans parachute.

[27 Nov 09] *** Richard tapes interview
for new Canadian documentary series, Unscripted, from VisionTV *** -- Now
available online as streaming video, Richard's interview for the new
Canadian show, Unscripted, aired on Tuesday, October 6th across
Canada and recently repeated on networks carrying the VisionTV show.
"Every life tells a story..." says the Unscripted home page.
"You know their names ... You know their work ...
You've just never had them tell you their story in their own words.
Until now.
The point of each episode is to introduce our audience to a celebrity
personality in a freshly dynamic manner so that their life-story connects
to your life story in an entertaining, engaging, life-affirming and thought-provoking
manner.
Unscripted…
A half-hour inside the life of someone you've always admired but
never had the chance to meet. Someone who knows that it's not what
you have that matters, but what you give."
The show format allows for much greater focus on the guest; in fact,
other than a few establishing stock photos, the visual focus of the show
is entirely on the person -- in this case, Richard. We get to see Richard
answering the questions put to him without hearing or seeing the host;
we are given general topics in the form of unobtrusive on-screen text and
then left to enjoy Richard's answers and reminiscences.
The scope of the episode is quite impressive, touching on aspects of
Richard's New Jersey upbringing through his high school and college years
and on into his early acting career -- training, auditioning, finally landing
that first big job.
The full interview video is available at the Unscripted website:

[27 Nov 09]*** Catch Richard as
William Shaw in DARKLIGHT, airing on SyFy on Saturday, January 16th,
2010 *** -- -- Richard spent several weeks of summer 2003 in Sofia,
Bulgaria working on "Darklight," part of SciFi's 2004-2005 movie lineup.
Though still airing on SyFy, the film is also available on DVD. (Amazon
purchase info at bottom of News page).
SyFy's original blurb gives the following description of the film:
"A secret society fights evil with evil in this atmospheric original
thriller.
Shiri Appleby (TV's Roswell), Richard Burgi (The Sentinel, SCI FI
Pictures' Decoys), John de Lancie (Q from the Star Trek franchise) and
David Hewlett (Stargate Atlantis, SCi Fi Pictures' Boa vs. Python, the
indie hit Cube) star in this tale of an ancient demoness named Lilith,
who has been captured by a secret society known as The Faith.
Her true nature concealed by a powerful spell, Lilith lives as a 24-year-old
woman with no memory of her ageless past -- until William Shaw (Burgi)
of The Faith recruits her to help him stop the Demonicos, a rampaging monster
that is spreading a lethal plague across the Earth and whose only vulnerability
is to Lilith's unique mystical power, known as Darklight.
As the duo race to slay the creature, they unwittingly expose a treacherous
conspiracy within The Faith itself. Lilith has the power to set things
right -- but now she has been reawakened to her true nature, will she resume
her own evil ways? Trusting her is a life-or-death gamble for humanity,
but it's one that William Shaw has no choice but to take."

[27 Nov 09]*** The Sentinel returns
to SyFy for January 21, 2010 daytime marathon ***-- The Sci Fi Channel
-- now known as SyFy
-- is airing an 8-episode "Marathon" block
of The Sentinel from 8:00am to 4:00pm ET on Thursday, January
21st, 2010.
Richard Burgi plays series lead Jim Ellison, a former
Army Ranger now working as a detective for the Cascade PD in his Washington
State hometown. Ellison finds himself almost overwhelmed when his dormant,
and repressed, hyperactive senses are brought back online after a period
of solitude on a remote stakeout. Anthropology doctoral candidate Blair
Sandburg (Garett Maggart), whose chosen field of research is "Sentinels"
-- people with such enhanced senses -- has the answers Ellison needs to
control and work with his powerful and unpredictable abilities. Ellison's
long-suffering captain, Simon Banks (Bruce A. Young) helps Ellison
and Sandburg make the most of Ellison's sensory advantage by watching their
backs and keeping their extrasensory escapades under the radar as much
as possible.

[27 Nov 09]*** Richard's episode
of the FX Network's NIP/TUCK now available on the Season 5 Part 2 DVD set
***
-- Richard joined the cast of NIP/TUCK in mid-June for episode
5.21, titled
"Allegra Caldarello." Part of an 8-episode block delayed
by the WGA strike, "Allegra Caldarello" and its back 8 brethren began airing
in January 2009.
Richard plays Dr. Logan Taper, a highly-qualified plastic surgeon
Dr.
Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) interviews and hires for a position
at McNamara/Troy. Qualified though he may be, Dr. Taper comes with
some unusual personal baggage in the form of a more obscure paraphilia
which, paired with his obsessive-compulsive behavior, leads to his tenure
at McNamara/Troy being short-lived.
The casting breakdown for Taper had this to say of the character: "35-45,
extremely attractive and refined, James Bond, after a martini. He is a
plastic surgeon with impeccable style and taste whose obsessive-compulsive
behavior is just one symptom of his extreme sexual compulsion." The
breakdown goes on to specify that the actor cast in the role must be comfortable
with sexual situations and rear nudity.

page: http://www.fxnetworks.com/

[27 Nov 09]*** Catch Richard in first five
episodes of HARPER'S ISLAND Complete Series DVD set *** -- HARPER'S ISLAND:
The DVD Edition arrived in stores and online retailers on September
8th. The 4-disc set sells at Amazon.com for $34.49 (ASIN B001G0MFE2)
Richard plays Thomas Wellington, real estate mogul and Father
of the Bride (Trish, played by Katie Cassidy). He appears in the
show's first five episodes (six, if you count a quick glimpse of
his bloodied corpse) and, it turns out, was the only cast-member besides
Harry
Hamlin who knew from the start of production how long his tenure would
be. (Richard worked on the Vancouver, BC-based series from August
through October of 2008).
Executive Producer Karim Zreik revealed an interesting Wellington
character detail in his TWOP blog; it turns out that Thomas Wellington
was broke, in financial ruin, and that seeming trophy wife Katherine
(Claudette Mink) was actually funding the wedding. This detail
is possibly one of many regarding the Wellington clan that never made it
into an aired episode; based on descriptive information on son-in-law Richard
(David Lewis), it seems likely he harbored great animosity towards
the domineering Wellington paterfamilias and may have somehow engineered
the financial fall from grace.

website.

[27 Nov 09]*** Catch Richard in six episodes
of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES on the Complete Fifth Season DVD Set *** -- Beginning
with "We're So Happy You're So Happy," Richard also appears in "A Spark.
To Pierce the Dark," "Bargaining," "Marry Me a Little," "Everybody Says
Don't," and "If It's Only In Your Head."
While the first episode is just a quick scene showing Karl needling
Susan
(Teri Hatcher) about Jackson (Gale Harold), the later five episodes
are meatier and begin by presenting Karl as a recently-separated father
whose young son's maternal abandonment issues lead to dark and bloodthirsty
artwork. Wee Evan's plight leads into the more long-term Karl story
arc wherein Karl's profession -- cut-throat and effective divorce lawyer
-- brings fiery and spontaneous Karl together with cool and reserved Bree
(Marcia Cross), who is eager to be rid of her increasingly difficult
husband, Orson (Kyle MacLachlan).
While Karl's "whatever it takes to win" approach to divorce immediately
conflicts with Bree's ideas of propriety, they find themselves drawn irresistably
to each other. Orson's discovery of the plot and Bree's decision to halt
the divorce proceedings frees Karl to pursue her romantically, setting
the groundwork for their impending Season Six affair.
The 7-disc DVD set, which premiered September 1st, is now available
online and in stores and is currently selling at Amazon.com
for $41.49

[27 Nov 09] *** Catch Richard as
Officer Bracke on "Friday the 13th Extended Killer Cut" DVD *** --
Look for some additional Burgi footage in the "Extended Killer Cut" DVD,
which was released on June 16th. Richard appears in at least
one deleted scene, set in the Crystal Lake Sheriff's office.
Richard joined
Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural," "Thomas Kinkade's
Christmas Cottage"),
Derek Mears ("The Hills have Eyes II"), and
Nana
Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), among others, in the
Platinum
Dunes produced reimagining of the 1980's horror hit, "Friday the
13th."
Richard plays Officer Bracke in the movie, which is set between
the events of the first and second "Friday the 13th" films; Pamela (Nana
Visitor) Voorhees, Jason's mad, mad mother and the actual killer of
the first film, is dead and already enshrined in Jason's (Derek Mears)
hovel hideaway, while Jason is all grown up and ready to take up his mother's
machete.
Jared Padalecki plays Clay Miller, a journalist drawn to Camp
Crystal Lake in search of his missing sister; Richard's Bracke represents
the long arm of the Law in the Crystal Lake area and, while sympathetic,
cannot offer Clay further help with the unsubstantiated disappearances.
As one would expect in a "Friday the 13th" story, the cast is fleshed
out with a selection of young people destined to run afoul of Jason Voorhees
as they scramble about the ramshackle remains of Camp Crystal Lake and
engage in impromptu bawdy romps at their host's nearby lakeside manse.
The film premiered in theaters on Friday, February 13th, 2009, and launched
on DVD in June. It is now available at retailers and online through
Amazon.com,
where it currently sells for $11.49 (ASIN B001NPD9LS)

We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be
sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his
home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially
from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across
what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We
-- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us
know where you came across the address by using this e-mail
link to the RBFC.
While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded
to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts
be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity
those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard
would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to
a local children's shelter or literacy program, or to the Pacific
Marine Mammal Center .
