[09 Oct 09] *** Richard's Karl
Mayer returns to "Desperate Housewives" for at least ten episodes of Fall
2009's Season 6 *** -- Karl was gradually reintroduced into the character
mix during the last month or so of Season 5, when he turned up at Susan's
(Teri Hatcher) school with a young son in tow. After Susan was shocked
by wee Evan's bloodthirsty artwork, Karl revealed that he had been dumped
by his wife of five years, Marisa, leaving him ill-equipped to deal with
his son's abandonment issues.
Shortly thereafter, Susan let slip to Bree (Marcia Cross) that
Karl was the most cut-throat and successful divorce lawyer she knew of
-- music to the desperate Goody Van de Kamp-Hodge, who wanted to divest
herself of her increasingly flaky hubby Orson (Kyle McLachlan) while
holding onto all her assets.
When Karl's surprisingly effective schemes ran aground thanks to Orson's
snooping, Bree called off the divorce, which freed Karl to pursue his strengthening
romantic interest in his former client.
When Season 6 picks up the storyline, Karl has been eagerly pursuing
Bree for several weeks but has found her reluctant to actually commit adultery
in the truest sense of the word; Karl realizes her heart really isn't in
it, and that she's someone who would rather be good than be happy.
When Orson makes an ill-timed and irritating comment about their moribund
marriage, Bree realizes she has had enough of being good -- she wants to
be happy, and for her, for right now, she can be happy with Karl.
Of course, that happiness will not last -- creator Marc Cherry has promised
a shocking climax to the Karl/Bree storyline come November sweeps, as well
as involvement in the midseason cliffhanger for them both. Will Karls survive
to connive another day? Stay tuned to find out!!

[09 Oct 09] *** Richard tapes interview
for new Canadian documentary series, Unscripted, from VisionTV *** -- Now
available online as streaming video, Richard's interview for the new
Canadian show, Unscripted, aired on Tuesday, October 6th across
Canada.
"Every life tells a story..." says the Unscripted home page.
"You know their names ... You know their work ...
You've just never had them tell you their story in their own words.
Until now.
The point of each episode is to introduce our audience to a celebrity
personality in a freshly dynamic manner so that their life-story connects
to your life story in an entertaining, engaging, life-affirming and thought-provoking
manner.
Unscripted…
A half-hour inside the life of someone you've always admired but
never had the chance to meet. Someone who knows that it's not what
you have that matters, but what you give."
The show format allows for much greater focus on the guest; in fact,
other than a few establishing stock photos, the visual focus of the show
is entirely on the person -- in this case, Richard. We get to see Richard
answering the questions put to him without hearing or seeing the host;
we are given general topics in the form of unobtrusive on-screen text and
then left to enjoy Richard's answers and reminiscences.
The scope of the episode is quite impressive, touching on aspects of
Richard's New Jersey upbringing through his high school and college years
and on into his early acting career -- training, auditioning, finally landing
that first big job.
The full interview video is available at the Unscripted website:

airs Oct 9th and 10th on Oxygen *** -- Richard plays
Craig
Martin, the "wrong place at the wrong time" realtor husband of movie

Craig has videotaped crooked cops executing drug dealers -- and the crooked
cops are desperate to tidy up loose ends. To get Craig and the camera,
they abduct Jessica and the Martin's young son. Jessica has one ace up

tap out random phone numbers, and the guy on the other end, Ryan (Chris
Evans), is willing to help. Problem is, he's on a cellphone, doesn't
know where Jessica is... and his battery's running low.
A previous TBS airing gave the following description for the
film: "A random wrong number on his cell phone sends a young man (Chris
Evans) into a high-stakes race against time to save a woman's life (Kim
Basinger). With no knowledge of Jessica Martin other than her hushed, panicked
voice on the other end of the tenuous cell phone connection, Ryan is quickly

[09 Oct 09] *** "Bailey's
Mistake" airs October 29th on the Hallmark Channel *** -- Catch Richard
in his all-too-fleeting scenes of "Bailey's Mistake" on Thursday, October
29th at 9:00pm ET.
Filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada in June 2000, "Bailey's Mistake" premiered
on ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney" in March 2001. "Bailey's Mistake"
was described on the zap2it.com website as "laced with romantic longing,
wistful memories, quirky humor and fantasy."
Richard played Paul Donovan, husband of Linda Hamilton's Liz
Donovan, and father of their two children. Liz is widowed when
Paul -- an adventurous soul -- explores a cave while out hiking; he is
mysteriously killed, and Liz's heartbreak is compounded a week later when
she discovers that Paul had secretly used their savings to buy land on
a small Maine island. (When broadcast, this version of Paul's untimely
death had been replaced with a more mundane -- and only mentioned in dialogue
-- death from a heart-attack while out on a two-mile run).
Liz, still grieving for Paul and feeling betrayed by him, decides to
visit the island and sell the property, taking their two children with
her. Bailey's Mistake, as the island is named, is not what she expects
-- nor are the people they encounter, a group which includes an assortment
of colorful folk claiming to be Paul's long-lost Gypsy relatives.
Richard's character, Paul Donovan, was only seen briefly in the movie
in a pair of dream flashbacks and a pair of ghostly visitations to his
son. Though more footage appears to have been shot -- the cave exploration
mentioned in the "zap2it" article features in one of Liz Donovan's dreams
-- Disney/Touchstone apparently decided to pare Paul's on-screen time down
considerably.

ET on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Richard Burgi plays series lead Jim Ellison, a former
Army Ranger now working as a detective for the Cascade PD in his Washington
State hometown. Ellison finds himself almost overwhelmed when his dormant,
and repressed, hyperactive senses are brought back online after a period
of solitude on a remote stakeout. Anthropology doctoral candidate Blair
Sandburg (Garett Maggart), whose chosen field of research is "Sentinels"
-- people with such enhanced senses -- has the answers Ellison needs to
control and work with his powerful and unpredictable abilities. Ellison's
long-suffering captain, Simon Banks (Bruce A. Young) helps Ellison
and Sandburg make the most of Ellison's sensory advantage by watching their
backs and keeping their extrasensory escapades under the radar as much
as possible.

husband of Dr. Vicki (Tia Carrere) Westin. Filmed in New Orleans
in May 2004, the film follows Vicki Westin's harrowing race against time

Dale Midkiff plays Jerry Bender, a man unhinged by the death
of his son and his wife's vegetative state, both the result of injuries

and thus unable to act quickly enough to save Bender's wife.
Bender, of course, doesn't distinguish between surgeon and administration

disposes of; for Vicki, a different fate awaits -- Bender abducts Billy
and their daughter and gives Vicki a choice -- she can have one or the
other back, but not both, and she has 12 hours to decide.

[09 Oct 09]*** Richard's episode
of the FX Network's NIP/TUCK now available on the Season 5 Part 2 DVD set
***
-- Richard joined the cast of "NIP/TUCK" in mid-June for episode
5.21, titled
"Allegra Caldarello." Part of an 8-episode block delayed
by the WGA strike, "Allegra Caldarello" and its back 8 brethren began airing
in January 2009.
Richard plays Dr. Logan Taper, a highly-qualified plastic surgeon
Dr.
Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) interviews and hires for a position
at McNamara/Troy. Qualified though he may be, Dr. Taper comes with
some unusual personal baggage in the form of a more obscure paraphilia
which, paired with his obsessive-compulsive behavior, leads to his tenure
at McNamara/Troy being short-lived.
The casting breakdown for Taper had this to say of the character: "35-45,
extremely attractive and refined, James Bond, after a martini. He is a
plastic surgeon with impeccable style and taste whose obsessive-compulsive
behavior is just one symptom of his extreme sexual compulsion." The
breakdown goes on to specify that the actor cast in the role must be comfortable
with sexual situations and rear nudity.

show page: http://www.fxnetworks.com/

[09 Oct 09]*** Catch Richard in first five
episodes of HARPER'S ISLAND Complete Series DVD set *** -- HARPER'S ISLAND:
The DVD Edition arrived in stores and online retailers on September
8th. The 4-disc set sells at Amazon.com for $34.49 (ASIN B001G0MFE2)
Richard plays Thomas Wellington, real estate mogul and Father
of the Bride (Trish, played by Katie Cassidy). He appears in the
show's first five episodes (six, if you count a quick glimpse of
his bloodied corpse) and, it turns out, was the only cast-member besides
Harry
Hamlin who knew from the start of production how long his tenure would
be. (Richard worked on the Vancouver, BC-based series from August
through October of 2008).
Executive Producer Karim Zreik revealed an interesting Wellington
character detail in his TWOP blog; it turns out that Thomas Wellington
was broke, in financial ruin, and that seeming trophy wife Katherine
(Claudette Mink) was actually funding the wedding. This detail
is possibly one of many regarding the Wellington clan that never made it
into an aired episode; based on descriptive information on son-in-law Richard
(David Lewis), it seems likely he harbored great animosity towards
the domineering Wellington paterfamilias and may have somehow engineered
the financial fall from grace.

website.

[09 Oct 09]*** Catch Richard in six episodes
of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES on the Complete Fifth Season DVD Set *** -- Beginning
with "We're So Happy You're So Happy," Richard also appears in "A Spark.
To Pierce the Dark," "Bargaining," "Marry Me a Little," "Everybody Says
Don't," and "If It's Only In Your Head."
While the first episode is just a quick scene showing Karl needling
Susan
(Teri Hatcher) about Jackson (Gale Harold), the later five episodes
are meatier and begin by presenting Karl as a recently-separated father
whose young son's maternal abandonment issues lead to dark and bloodthirsty
artwork. Wee Evan's plight leads into the more long-term Karl story
arc wherein Karl's profession -- cut-throat and effective divorce lawyer
-- brings fiery and spontaneous Karl together with cool and reserved Bree
(Marcia Cross), who is eager to be rid of her increasingly difficult
husband, Orson (Kyle MacLachlan).
While Karl's "whatever it takes to win" approach divorce immediately
conflicts with Bree's ideas of propriety, they find themselves drawn irresistably
to each other. Orson's discovery of the plot and Bree's decision to halt
the divorce proceedings frees Karl to pursue her romantically, setting
the groundwork for their impending Season Six affair.
The 7-disc DVD set, which premiered September 1st, is now available
online and in stores and is currently selling at Amazon.com
for $41.49

[09 Oct 09]*** Catch Richard as Jack Hurst
in KNIGHT RIDER Season 1 DVD set *** -- The KNIGHT RIDER - Season
One DVD set hit the market on July 28th and is now available at various
retailers and online merchants. (The 4-disc DVD set is currently selling
at Amazon.com
for $39.49 -- ASIN B0024FAD7Y)
Richard spent a long weekend in late October '08 in Hawaii working
on "Knight to King's Pawn," the 12th episode of NBC's now-canceled
"Knight Rider" series. Based on the hit 1980's original, the new series
followed the exploits of Michael Traceur (Justin Bruening) and the
latest version of KITT, this time embodied in a hot Ford Mustang and voiced
by Val Kilmer.
In addition to Bruening, the cast included Deanna Russo (Sarah),
Paul Campbell (Billy), Smith Cho (Zoe), Sydney Poitier, Yancey Arias,
and Bruce Davison. However, Poitier, Arias, and Davison all
left the show at the end of the initial 13-episode order; while NBC commissioned
a full season's worth of episodes, the "back eight" or so featured a trimmed-down
cast and storylines which were to cleave closer to the spirit of the 1980's
original.
Richard's episode, "Knight to King's Pawn" -- Episode 1.12 -- featured
Richard as Jack Hurst, an NSA commander with intimate knowledge
of the KITT program. Hurst storms in and shuts down the SSC, removing KITT's
chip and stealing his 'body' for his own unsavory purposes. Also
referred to as "The KARR episode," "Knight to King's Pawn" features the
return of KITT's nemesis, the amoral and murderous KARR first featured
in the original series.

[09 Oct 09] *** Catch Richard as
Officer Bracke on "Friday the 13th Extended Killer Cut" DVD *** --
Look for some additional Burgi footage in the "Extended Killer Cut" DVD,
which was released on June 16th. Richard appears in at least
one deleted scene, set in the Crystal Lake Sheriff's office.
Richard joined
Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural," "Thomas Kinkade's
Christmas Cottage"),
Derek Mears ("The Hills have Eyes II"), and
Nana
Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), among others, in the
Platinum
Dunes produced reimagining of the 1980's horror hit, "Friday the
13th."
Richard plays Officer Bracke in the movie, which is set between
the events of the first and second "Friday the 13th" films; Pamela (Nana
Visitor) Voorhees, Jason's mad, mad mother and the actual killer of
the first film, is dead and already enshrined in Jason's (Derek Mears)
hovel hideaway, while Jason is all grown up and ready to take up his mother's
machete.
Jared Padalecki plays Clay Miller, a journalist drawn to Camp
Crystal Lake in search of his missing sister; Richard's Bracke represents
the long arm of the Law in the Crystal Lake area and, while sympathetic,
cannot offer Clay further help with the unsubstantiated disappearances.
As one would expect in a "Friday the 13th" story, the cast is fleshed
out with a selection of young people destined to run afoul of Jason Voorhees
as they scramble about the ramshackle remains of Camp Crystal Lake and
engage in impromptu bawdy romps at their host's nearby lakeside manse.
The film premiered in theaters on Friday, February 13th, 2009, and launched
on DVD in June. It is now available at retailers and online through
Amazon.com,
where it currently sells for $11.49 (ASIN B001NPD9LS)

We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be
sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his
home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially
from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across
what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We
-- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us
know where you came across the address by using this e-mail
link to the RBFC.
While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded
to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts
be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity
those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard
would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to
a local children's shelter or literacy program, or to the Pacific
Marine Mammal Center.
