*** Richard appears in the fifth season "ugly baby" episode of
"Seinfeld,"
playing Dr. Ben in the episode "The Hamptons."
Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is quite taken with the handsome pediatrician and is smugly pleased to be referred to as "breath-taking" by the dashing doctor. However, when Dr. Ben also refers to the baby of the house -- which Elaine, Jerry, George and Kramer all agree is the ugliest infant they have ever seen -- as "breath-taking," Elaine begins to wonder just exactly how the term could be applied to herself and the ugly baby. Richard's episode of "Veronica's Closet" to air on USA Network - Tuesday,
September 18th at 10:00am ET *** -- Catch Richard in "Veronica's

plays

Mark, Ronnie's (Kirstie Alley) new love

Mark turns out to have had a college
romance with Veronica's assistant and friend,
Olive (Kathy Najimy).
Veronica is, of course, more than a little disturbed to discover that Olive and Mark have a romantic past, but tries valiantly to get past it -- until Mark begins to undress for a romantic interlude. He is strangely reluctant to remove his shirt and when Ronnie insists, he opens his shirt to reveal an alarmingly large tattoo of Olive's face -- a misguided and untested ploy to win Olive's affections. Veronica unceremoniously turfs Mark out. After pestering Olive for information on the long-dead romance, Veronica decides to give Mark another chance. Of course, the tattoo of Olive preys upon her and, after she imagines the tattoo talking to her mid-caress, Ronnie is about to give up on their romantic dalliance, until it occurs to the both of them for Mark to leave his shirt on. This works for a while, but when Mark turns into Olive while they bask in the afterglow, Ronnie sends Mark packing once and for all. One West Waikiki airing on Belgian cable channel RTBF 1 -- Sundays at 21:41pm
*** Viewers in Belgium, or European residents with access to RTBF
1, can catch Richard as rogueish and irreverent Honolulu PD
homicide detective Lieutenant Mack Wolfe. The episodes remain
in English with French subtitling.
Set and filmed in Hawaii, the 1994-95 series was promoted as a modern-day "Quincy" with a touch of "Magnum, P.I." Cheryl Ladd, as Medical Examiner Dr. Dawn "Holli" Holliday, provided the "Quincy" aspect while Richard Burgi's Mack Wolfe gave the show its "Magnum" qualities. Initially airing on CBS, the show was cancelled after little more than a month and shifted over into syndication by Glen Larson Productions and Rysher. In all, some twenty episodes were produced, with the two-hour pilot movie being split into two episodes. (Thanks to Steffi for the schedule information and screen-grab)

FOX announces premiere
date for "24" -- Tuesday, October 30th at 9:00pm ET/PT *** Catch Richard in the new Fall 2001 FOX drama as Alan York, newly divorced father of a wayward -- and missing -- teenage daughter. Series lead Kiefer Sutherland plays the part of CIA Counter Intelligence Unit agentJack Bauer, who has 24 hours to stop an assassination attempt on Presidential nominee David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), while Richard's Alan York -- aided by Bauer's wife Terri (Leslie Hope) -- searches for their two missing daughters, Janet and Kim (Elisha Cuthbert). (The girls, best friends, have disappeared). The series will build to its climactic finale in episode 24 -- "zero hour," so to speak. As is often the case with new shows, FOX has so far only ordered thirteen episodes of "24;" the show's ratings performance will be taken into consideration before the final eleven episodes are ordered. Richard will, presumably, continue to play the part of Alan York through the run of the series, with the "missing daughter" storyline forming -- one assumes -- a "b" story to the assassination "a" story. [09/01/01] *** "24" UPDATE: Richard filming six-episode story arc for first block of "24" episodes *** -- Richard is currently working on a six-episode story arc for "24," most likely dealing with the missing daughters. At present, we do not know if Alan York will be back in later episodes or not; including the pilot, Richard will be in seven of the first thirteen episodes ordered by FOX. As FOX is now running promos for "24" -- some featuring Richard -- messages and letters to FOX would not be amiss. Interested in seeing more of Richard Burgi when the show premieres? Tell FOX. Planning to watch the show because you've seen Richard in the promos? Tell FOX. Looking forward to "24" because one of your favorite actors, Richard Burgi, has a role in the series? As of this date -- August 31st -- we have not yet heard if Richard will return to "The District" as Captain Vincent Hunter. Series regular David O'Hara (Detective Danny McGregor) apparently will not be returning, as Temple Page (Sean Patrick Thomas) is being given a new partner, played by none other than Jonathan LaPaglia of "7 Days" fame. (LaPaglia headed the cast of the action/adventure show which moved into "The Sentinel's" UPN schedule berth back in 1998). Apparently LaPaglia's character will be used to further play up the conflict between Page's earnest and optimistic outlook and that of more seasoned, battle-worn officers. Richard's Captain Hunter provided a sharp contrast to Page's idealism, and LaPaglia's character seems destined to continue in that vein; according to LaPaglia in an interview with USA Today, "He's a little bit of a wild card, probably best described as a broken toy back from the repair shop." (Thanks to Benjamin at www.districtnews.net/ for the updates)
[08/31/01]*** German fans, The District is heading your way -- Premiering Wednesday, September 5th at 21:10pm on VOX *** -- "The District" will remain in that timeslot throughout its run. Thus far, VOX has bought 23 episodes (the first season) which will be dubbed into German and titled "The District - Einsatz in Washington." Though VOX is private TV, it should be available "free and clear" throughout Europe, even though dubbed into German. Those with satellite systems can tune in using the following coordinates: ASTRA reception area Transponder 89 (27500,3/4) ASTRA-1H

Simply visit the CBS website's "District" page and use the feedback link, or send a "paper mail" message to "The District" through their direct mailing address listed below: The District

[01/30/01]*** Write to Richard care of the RBFC! *** -- Richard has asked us to encourage anyone interested in sending cards or letters to him to use the RBFC mailing address, which is listed below. This allows Richard to better handle his incoming mail, which he certainly enjoys receiving, provided it comes through appropriate channels. Mr. Richard Burgi
We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We -- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know where you came across the address by using this e-mail link to the RBFC. While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to a local children's shelter or literacy program.
[07/30/01]*** Sci-Fi Channel puts "The Sentinel" on broadcast hiatus *** -- When "The Sentinel" disappeared from Sci-Fi's broadcasts and schedule listings in mid-July, SOS (Support Our Sentinel) contacted the Sci-Fi Channel and learned the following: SOS Advisory - The Sentinel on Sci-Fi (advisory issued July 23, 2001) In two separate conversations with the Sci-Fi Channel on July 18, SOS has learned of the following. Chris Regina, Director of Programming, and Bonnie Hammer's office confirm that The Sentinel has been removed from the Sci-Fi schedule, most likely for the remainder of 2001. Both sources state that this is for "budgetary reasons." This was further explained by Regina as Sci-Fi having exhausted their budget for showing The Sentinel for this year. They have a certain dollar amount to spend on the showings, and it must be spread out. Both state that this action is for this year. Both say that The Sentinel will be back in January 2002. Regina further stated that while January is more likely, there is the possibility that it will be back as early as October. Earlier this year, Chris Regina indicated to SOS that The Sentinel was a property that Sci-Fi would continue to use. At that time, he claimed that they had no current plans to remove The Sentinel from the Sci-Fi schedule permanently, at least through 2001 This statement, along with his most recent information, would seem to mean that we can expect to see The Sentinel's eventual return to Sci-Fi. In the meantime, SOS advises that Sentinel (and Burgi) fans send the folks at Sci-Fi periodic reminders that their Sentinel audience is still in place and eagerly anticipating the show's return to the Sci-Fi schedule. This can easily be done via e-mail, or through the Sci-Fi website's "feedback" system -- or, if one feels especially energetic, by post-card or letter.
