Richard plays Major Hammer, the Army's "we regret to inform you..." bearer of bad tidings. Richard's scene is fairly short, so be on the lookout for him. (The movie runs for four hours).
** The one that got away ** -- Additional footage of Richard at home, which was presumably taped at the same time as the original Celebrity Homes segment, debuted in the new E! special, Celebrity Artists. The new special premiered in early July (July 4th and 5th) and Richard was seen showing off his collection of rare swords. As E! tends to repeat celebrity specials several times, this episode of Celebrity Artists will, in all likelihood, be shown again. Go to www.eonline.com and click on the "on air" button and then enter Richard Burgi in the search box; this will bring up a list of links for all scheduled Burgi appearances.
[06/21/00] *** New role for Richard -- Paul Donovan on ABC TV movie "Bailey's Mistake" *** -- Richard is currently in Nova Scotia, Canada, filming "Bailey's Mistake," a two-hour TV movie for ABC. Richard joins Linda Hamilton ("Terminator," "Terminator 2," "Beauty and the Beast,") Joan Plowright ("Dinosaur," "Avalon,") and Kyle Secor ("Homicide: Life on the Street") on the project. Slated for the 2000-2001 season, "Bailey's Mistake" is "laced with romantic longing, wistful memories, quirky humor and fantasy."Richard plays Paul Donovan, husband of Linda Hamilton's Liz Donovan, and father of their two children. Liz is widowed when Paul -- an adventurous soul -- explores a cave while out hiking; he is mysteriously killed, and Liz's heartbreak is compounded a week later when she discovers that Paul had secretly used their savings to buy land on a small Maine island. Liz, still grieving for Paul and feeling betrayed by him, decides to visit the island and sell the property, taking their two children with her. Bailey's Mistake, as the island is named, is not what she expects -- nor are the people they encounter, a group which includes an assortment of colorful folk claiming to be Paul's long-lost relatives. As the death of Richard's character, Paul, sets the movie plot in motion, it is possible he will only be seen early on, and briefly, unless a number of flashback scenes are used to flesh out Paul's part in the unfolding events of "Bailey's Mistake." To learn more about "Bailey's Mistake," visit the zap2it website at http://tv.zap2it.com/news/networkupdate.html?9405. The ABC.com website will, presumably, also list information about the movie as the Fall season and airdate draw closer.

At first put off by the unsettling tattoo but unwilling to dump Mark over something so superficial, Veronica again tries for a romantic evening, only to have her imagination supply the tattoo with Olive's moving mouth and taunting commentary. Refusing to accept defeat, Veronica has Mark keep his shirt on for the remainder of the evening. All is well until, basking in the afterglow, Veronica turns to find Olive beside her, in Mark's clothes and speaking with his voice. The tattoo wins and Mark is sent packing. "Veronica's Tattooed Man" will, in all probability, rerun later on this season, so remember to check your local listings or the online schedules at TVGuide.com and TVGrid.com. Remember to visit NBC's website and drop them a thankyou e-mail for chosing Richard for the role. When Syd decides to move into her own place, Dr. J.D. Scanlon (Richard Burgi) is the first neighbor she meets. J.D. is an anthropologist on sabbatical, writing a book on his recent field work in West Africa, and he is quite taken with Syd. J.D. flirts with and charms Syd into a series of dinner-dates which are interrupted by minor family problems. J.D. eventually tells Syd it would be better if they put their prospective romance on hold until she's ready to assert her independence from family ties. A bit put off by J.D.'s sudden turnaround, Syd sees her new apartment in a somewhat less rosy light; the roof leaks and the neighbors are maddening -- and similar to her own family in some ways. When the whole lot turn up for a Thursday night pot-luck dinner, Syd realizes that for all his smooth spiel about independence from family, J.D. is far from independent -- he has, in fact, created his own family or "tribe" out of the household of neighbors. "I'm going home," says Syd, bidding J.D. and company adieu. Remember to visit NBC's website and drop them a thankyou e-mail for chosing Richard for the role. The NBC website is at http://www.nbc.com. To learn more about the show, visit the Providence page. Providence e-mail can be sent to providence@nbc.com.
