[06/27/01] *** FOX adds "24" to its Fall 2001 lineup -- Tuesdays at 9:00pm ET/PT *** Richard, cast as newly-divorced father Alan York, recently filmed the pilot for "24," a groundbreaking drama series for the FOX Network. Kiefer Sutherland heads the cast of the "real time" show, so called because its 24 hour-long episodes will cover a single day -- 24 hours. Kiefer Sutherland plays the part of CIA agent Jack Bower/Bauer, who has 24 hours to stop an assassination, while Richard -- aided by Sutherland's on-screen wife Teri -- searches for their two missing daughters, Janet and Kim. (The girls, best friends, have disappeared). The series will build to its climactic finale in episode 24 -- "zero hour," so to speak. Richard will, presumably, continue to play the part of Alan York through the run of the series, which is due to go into production in late July/early August. (More information as we receive it...)

"The District" wrapped production on its Freshman season with a total of 23 episodes. As the show has been a ratings success for CBS, usually winning its hour every Saturday, "The District" will be back next season, most likely starting production on its sophomore season in late July/early August. Now that "The District" has aired its season finale, look for the remaining unrepeated episodes to air. Of Richard's seven episodes, three have not yet repeated; they are:
This would be a great time to send CBS some feedback on "The District" and Captain Hunter -- let them know you've enjoyed seeing Richard on their show and would enjoy seeing even more of him in the Fall 2001 season. Simply visit the CBS website's "District" page and use the feedback link. Richard's episodes to date (Note: the pilot is designated as episode '1.00') Season One -- 2000-2001
Richard plays the recurring role of Captain Vincent Hunter, head of the Internal Affairs division. To learn more about "The District," visit the CBS Website "District" page. (More information as we receive it. Thanks to Becky for the screen-grabs)
Knockout -- a boxing champion (guest star Richard Burgi) who became a homeless alcoholic after killing his adoptive brother in the ring gets another shot -- at life. With Paul Popowich. (Photo -- Paul Popowich and Richard Burgi). The show itself, an hour-long drama with a redemptive theme, is described by TVGuide in these terms: "An angel [Paul Popowich] ushers people who've just had near-death experiences back in time to revisit a pivotal decision that changed their lives." What TVguide did not mention is that these ne'er-do-wells die, but are actually given the chance to change their pasts and get a second chance at life -- if they can convince their younger selves to chose a different path when the "pivotal decision" is made. Both the PAX and the CTV websites list information on "Twice in a Lifetime," with the PAX website offering a more detailed look at the show, the characters, the cast, and the episodes.

[01/30/01]*** Write to Richard care of the RBFC! *** -- Richard has asked us to encourage anyone interested in sending cards or letters to him to use the RBFC mailing address, which is listed below. This allows Richard to better handle his incoming mail, which he certainly enjoys receiving, provided it comes through appropriate channels. Mr. Richard Burgi
We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We -- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know where you came across the address by using this e-mail link to the RBFC. While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to a local children's shelter or literacy program.
