Titled "Good-bye, Jenny," it is his ninth episode so far of the hit CBS drama. The TV Guide online description (available at http://www/tvguide.com ) reads as follows:  Richard's Captain Vincent Hunter becomes involved when it becomes evident that the evidence tampering was an inside job. As Officer Nancy Parras (Elizabeth Marvel) was the last person on record to have handled the cocaine, she becomes Hunter's initial focus. In the "small, small world" category, one of Richard's "Johnny on the Spot" costars -- Helen Cates -- also appears in this episode of The District, playing ballistics expert Carol Bodine. [21 May 03] *** Richard's Captain Hunter mentioned by Mannion in "District" finale *** -- The season finale of "The District" (titled Into the Sunset) found Chief Mannion (Craig T. Nelson) knocking a golf ball around out in the Arizona desert, with only a hungry-looking vulture for company. Mannion tells the buzzard that he reminds him of "a certain Captain Hunter" -- has the same "beady eyes." Hunter remains the subject of the one-sided conversation for three or four sentences. No word on whether this means Hunter -- and Richard -- will play a larger part in the Fall 2003 season; however, Hunter is still the Captain of Internal Affairs, and with Jonathan LaPaglia's Debreno being moved into IA, it stands to reason there would be more opportunity for Hunter to be involved in developing stories. ** French fans, look for Richard every Sunday at 3:30pm on Channel 2 ** The District recently joined the lineup on France's Channel 2, where it is known as "Washington Police." Mammal Center (FSLMMC) in need of volunteers *** -- Richard's charitable
organization of choice, the FSLMMC (visit their website at www.fslmmc.org)
has issued a call for help from South California residents.
According to the message passed to us from the Marine Mammals Conservation and Research Discussion List, "Friends of the Sea Lion has an immediate need for volunteers to help care for its stranded pinnipeds. they are currently experiencing a large influx of animals suffering from domoic acid toxicity. Location is Laguna Beach, California. Volunteers must provide their own transportation and housing. Qualifications: Volunteers must be 18 years old and able to lift 50 pounds. Minimum of 4-8 hours per week, one year commitment. Duties include the direct care of the animals, food preparation, rescue of stranded animals and general maintenance of the facility. Interview required. Contact the on-duty supervisor at (949) 494-3050 after 10:00am." The episode takes Michael and Amy (Amy Brenneman) further down the road towards a messy custody battle for their daughter Lauren (Karle Warren).  Interestingly, another of Richard's "Johnny on the Spot" costars also appears in this episode -- Miriam Flynn plays the part of Amy's new interior decorator, "Winky." "Amy feels conflicted about whether to tell Lauren that She's in a romantic relationship with Stu. Meanwhile, Peter worries Gillian is setting herself up for a disappointment bu believing that their baby is a girl. Elsewhere Kyle has a business date with Lily for the ballet; Kimberly Fallon (Alice Dodd) is in Amy's courtroom defending a 16-year-old's decision to get married; and Bruce ruffles a parole officer's feathers by personally investigating a teen's probation violation." Amy's relationship troubles lead to a period of self-doubt, which comes to a head when Michael comes over to drop off one of Lauren's (Karle Warren) schoolbooks. Amy invites her ex-husband in for coffee and at first, Michael is hesitant, not sure exactly what to expect. Michael has just as many surprises for Amy, as he is gentle, compassionate and considerate when she reveals her doubts and fears to him. Amy wonders whether her problems with long-term relationships result from her own inadequacies, going so far as to speculate that their own marriage problems may have all been her fault. Michael doesn't take the easy, self-serving route; instead, he gently jokes with Amy that her problems stem from her never having gotten over him, reminds her of the undeniable good times they shared, and lets her off the hook, displaying a new depth of self-awareness and compassion. As he tells her, once, a long time ago, he had a perfect marriage and wife and didn't know what he had until he had lost it. A warm hug and kiss later, Michael is out the door, reminding Amy that he'll pick their daughter up on the weekend as usual. This most recent episode is Richard's sixth so far of the popular CBS drama as Michael Cassidy, ex-husband of Judge Amy Gray. His previous episode of Judging Amy, titled "The Best Interests of the Child," took Michael and Amy (Amy Brenneman) into court to bo battle for their daughter Lauren (Karle Warren). Michael stood a very good chance of winning the case, but he withdrew from the proceedings at the last minute. A confused Amy later learned that Michael's second wife had announced she was leaving him, which meant he could no longer offer Lauren the two-parent home he had counted on. Richard officially returned to Judging Amy as Michael Cassidy in the Fall 2002 season premiere, "Lost in the System," which aired on October 1st. According to the August 27, 2002 issue of Soap Opera Weekly (pg.13), Richard's character, Michael, was to figure prominently in the Fall 2002 season. "Amy's ex, Michael, who is not pleased with Amy's new living arrangements, follows through on his threats to fight for custody of their daughter, Lauren. 'The custody battle between them is going to be an ongoing thing this season,' reveals [head writer Barbara] Hall." [31 May 03] *** Production information on "The Message," Richard's episode of the canceled FOX series Firefly, sheds light on his character *** -- Thanks to the diligent work of the folks at the fireflyfans.net site, we now know the name of his character and a little bit about him. Womack -- no first name revealed thus far -- may once have seen military action with Capt. Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds (series lead Nathan Fillion) and his first officer Zoe (Gina Torres). When we meet Womack, he is in pursuit of the body of "the deceased war comrade" sent to Mal, for reasons unknown. He and his associates, though law enforcement officers of some description, seem to be on the unsavory, if not unscrupulous, side. ** Firefly launched on UK's SciFi Channel -- Monday, May 12th at 8:00pm ** -- UK viewers will be the first to see Richard's Firefly episode, "The Message," now that the UK SciFi Channel is airing the cancelled FOX series. According to the UK SciFi website, the show launched on Monday, May 12th with part 1 of "Serenity," the actual series pilot, with an encore showing at 11:50pm that evening. Richard's episode, as the last one filmed, will most likely air in August. Firefly update *** -- According to a recent article by Robert Bianco in the USA Today Print Edition, FOX plans to release Firefly on DVD, in wide-screen format, this coming December. Presumably this will be in the form of a boxed set, as there are only fifteen episodes, including the three final unaired shows. [31 May 03] *** Richard lands Lead role in "Starship Troopers" sequel ** -- Richard is playing the part of Dax, a "tough trooper," in the Jon Davison produced, Phil Tippett directed "Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation." Dax is, we assume, the aforementioned "Hero" who leads a team of stalwart troopers in their defense of an abandoned outpost besieged by the movie's trademark "arachnids" -- truly nasty bugs with dark and dire designs on Dax's troops.  Joining Richard in "Starship Troopers 2" are Billy Brown, Kelly Carlson, Cy Carter, Sandrine Holt, Ed Lauter, J.P. Manoux, Lawrence Monoson, Colleen Porch, Drew Powel, Ed Quinn, Jason-Shane Scott, and Brenda Strong. Screenwriter Ed Neumeier discussed his script for the new Starship Troopers film in an interview with Moviehole: Movie News & Reviews (http://www.moviehole.net/). "The idea for the sequel was essentially that Phil Tippett should direct a movie. I have always had tremendous respect for Phil's talent and felt a great personal debt to him for the extraordinary work he did on both RoboCop and Starship Troopers. The script for Starship 2 pretty much took its cues from what Phil wanted to do and what was possible given the limitations of the budget. Phil's idea was that we should sort of reverse what had been done with the first two Alien movies. If Starship Troopers was a gung-ho bughunt adventure ala Aliens, then Starship 2 would be a more moody horror picture like Alien." The Showcase Entertainment website at http://showcaseentertainment.com now lists "Wheelmen" in its list of movies and Richard Burgi in its list of stars, along with a movie synopsis and image of the new "Wheelmen" one-sheet seen at left.
We are pleased to announce that STRETCHPIX has signed with SHOWCASE ENTERTAINMENT for International distribution and representation for the film WHEELMEN. [16 Feb 03] *** "Wheelmen" to be represented at the American Film Market for foreign territories; domestic distribution negotiations continue *** In addition to presentation at the AFM, which opens Wednesday, February 19th, "Wheelmen" will be screened for international buyers on Monday, February 24th at the Cineplex Odeon Broadway in Santa Monica. In addition to its theatrical release format, "Wheelmen" has been video-formatted for eventual television and DVD release. [15 Feb 03] *** "Wheelmen" still awaiting finalization of distribution
arrangements; no word yet on revised release date *** "Wheelmen," which
stars Richard Burgi as former hotshot ambulance driver Nick Torino,
is currently awaiting a distribution deal. Once such a deal has been finalized,
the movie's release format will be decided and a release date announced.
Must see items include the gallery of photos (by photographer Jennifer B. Copp) and Quicktime movie clips -- Richard appears several times in both galleries. one day and discovers a little boy from his past named ARTHUR (Alexander
Gould, Finding Nemo) waiting patiently for him in his office. After
noticing several bruises on Arthur's neck, Nick drops the boy off at Social
Services where he meets GWEN (Erin Daniels, One Hour Photo), a loving
social worker assigned to Arthur's case. Things get complicated as Nick
falls for Gwen, and little Arthur feels the rush of jealousy as he too
has a crush on her.

May 03] *** Soapnet Cable network acquires
9,000 episodes of NBC Soap "Another World," circa 1987; Richard played
Chad Rollo from '86 to '88 *** -- Starting July 1st, Soapnet will be
broadcasting vintage episodes of "Another World," airing each episode
three times a day. Richard's Chad Rollo was the show's bad boy --
an entertainment manager who also dabbled in prostitution. Towards the
end of his tenure, Rollo was mending his ways somewhat, and was involved
in one of Daytime's first AIDS storylines -- his sister, Dawn, became
infected after a transfusion from their ne'er-do-well mother.

[31 May 03] *** WB sends "Trash" to the dump *** -- An inescapable fact of pilot season is that more pilots are produced than are ever picked up for the new network schedule. The WB has filled all its Fall 2003 schedule slots and chosen all its midseason replacement shows, and "Trash" did not make the team. No word, yet, on the possibility of "Trash" being offered to another network or syndication distributor. [09 May 03]*** Latest news on Richard's "Trash" *** -- May usually heralds the arrival of the Network "up-fronts," the media events staged by the networks to introduce their new Fall schedules. Shows will be selected for Fall premiere as well as mid-season replacement, with both being announced at or around the "up-fronts." The WB up-front will be held Tuesday, May 13th; we hope to have news of Trash's fate sometime thereafter. [15 Feb 03] *** Richard films new pilot for the WB network *** -- Richard has a part in the new Chris Thompson-produced comedy "Trash," a pilot for the WB network's Fall 2003 season, playing Bud Blue, father of a teenage daughter named Luna. The pilot episode filmed in late January as scheduled. "Trash" is set in Antelope Valley, a community north of the Los Angeles metro area. Mac (Mike Erwin), 16 1/2, and his mother Lisa (Lisa Blount) move from Los Angeles to her home town, taking up residence in a trailer park. Mac's best friend is Gypsy (Samaire Armstrong), also 16. Gypsy's brother is considered the town bad boy. Naturally, they all live in the trailer park. Mac gets a job mowing the lawn of the more well-to-do Blues and promptly falls for the lovely Luna (Pippi). Bud, it just so happens, has history with Mac's mother; he stood her up at the prom and ran off with -- and married -- some rich girl from the good side of town. Luna's mother -- and Mac's father -- are no longer in the picture. Naturally, Bud is less than thrilled to discover Mac's interest in his daughter and tries to warn him off. The series is described by E! Entertainment TV's Kimberly Potts (TV Scoop) as "Romeo and Juliet set in a trailer park," and further described by Potts as "the early contender for what could either be the funniest new sitcom of next season or the worst, most offensive new sitcom of next season." According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, "Trash" "has been in development at the WB Network for two years" and is now going ahead to the pilot stage as a Regency Television and Sony Pictures Television production. Sentinel to launch on Brit SciFi Channel on June 17th *** According to an article in the "In Production - News" section (dated 22 Apr 03) of the Cult TV website ( http://www.cult.tv/ ), The Sentinel will join the UK's SciFi Channel schedule on June 17th, airing Tuesday through Friday at 6:00pm. 
(Additional scheduling info courtesy of Sheila: "The SciFi Channel seems to be stripping it Tuesday - Friday at 6pm, repeating each episode at 1pm next day (Friday's episode being repeated the following week), then on Sunday 22nd they're showing Switchman twice, morning and then 6pm again. The Cult TV article, titled "Sentinel Debuts in UK," had this to say of the series: "Richard Burgi is Detective James Ellison, who crashes during a tour of duty in the jungles of Peru, while serving with the US Army's Special Forces. Unknown to him, months in the wilderness have left him with many psychic and perceptual gifts. His senses are heightened, and five years after his return to the States, he finds that he can suddenly use these skills to the greater good in his home of suburban Cascade, Washington. He has become the type of person foretold by the legends of ancient tribes -- he is a 'Sentinel.' With a loyal following in America and in various territories around the world, The Sentinel finally gains itself a UK transmission. The article went on to give a short resume for Richard: "Star Richard Burgi is easily recognisable to fans of the first season of 24. Although we all thought he was Alan York, father of a missing teenage daughter, he turned out to be hired assassin Kevin Carroll! He has recently been seen on CSI as a paragliding instructor, and has appeared regularly on Judging Amy Stateside, replacing John Slattery in the role of Michael Cassidy, ex-husband of Judge Amy Gray. Thursday, February 27, 2003 A former Baywatch star and a soap opera actor are joining the cast of a big-budgeted sci-fi thriller that begins filming Tuesday in Ottawa. Nicole Eggert, who played Summer Quinn for two years on Baywatch, and Joe Lando, a series regular on One Life to Live who more recently played on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, are appearing in Decoys, a $5-million feature film that will be shooting at various locations in the city. It's the second movie in six months that is being filmed in Ottawa after last year's drama Outrage, which starred Alexandra Paul, also a former Baywatch regular. Decoys is expected to hit theatres this fall. Director Matt Hastings describes the film as "American Pie meets Species," although it will also have a "sci-fi bent" to it and some humour. It's the story of two beautiful female aliens who come to earth and begin a series of strange events at a college campus during a very cold winter. Snow is an important element in the film -- the aliens are from an ice planet and need cold weather to survive -- and the recent big snowfall has been a boon for the production, he said. "I'd say almost half the movie will be shot outside," said Mr. Hastings, who's been in Ottawa for a month scouting locations. "Not a lot of the features have been shot here, and there's so many beautiful locations in the city that we will be tapping into." The University of Ottawa, St. Paul University, the Father and Sons restaurant on Osgoode Street, other locations in Sandy Hill and the Lees Avenue campus of Algonquin College are slated for use. Ottawa actress Krista Morin has one of the principal roles in the film, playing the part of Vikki Vickers, the head sorority sister at the college. She said the sudden arrival of these film productions is a good sign for Ottawa actors who have had to go elsewhere for film auditions. "Ottawa is more of a theatre-based town, so this is pretty exciting.

We are assuming a continuing Wednesday timeslot. (Thanks to Sylvette for the update) *** First season of 24 launches in Switzerland on French-language Television Suisse Romande -- Thursdays, starting on March 6th. *** According to TV8, the TV guide for French-speaking Switzerland, the first season of 24 will launch this Thursday in its first European non-pay TV broadcast. TV8 interviewed Richard for an article announcing the launch.
