[15 Feb 03] *** Richard films new pilot for the WB network *** -- Richard has a part in the new Chris Thompson-produced comedy Trash, a pilot for the WB network's Fall 2003 season, playing Bud Blue, father of a teenage daughter named Luna. The pilot episode filmed in late January as scheduled. Trash is set in Antelope Valley, a community north of the Los Angeles metro area. Mac (Mike Erwin), 16 1/2, and his mother Lisa (Lisa Blount) move from Los Angeles to her home town, taking up residence in a trailer park. Mac's best friend is Gypsy (Samaire Armstrong), also 16. Gypsy's brother is considered the town bad boy. Naturally, they all live in the trailer park. Mac gets a job mowing the lawn of the more well-to-do Blues and promptly falls for the lovely Luna (Pippi). Bud, it just so happens, has history with Mac's mother; he stood her up at the prom and ran off with -- and married -- some rich girl from the good side of town. Luna's mother -- and Mac's father -- are no longer in the picture. Naturally, Bud is less than thrilled to discover Mac's interest in his daughter and tries to warn him off. The series is described by E! Entertainment TV's Kimberly Potts (TV Scoop) as "Romeo and Juliet set in a trailer park," and further described by Potts as "the early contender for what could either be the funniest new sitcom of next season or the worst, most offensive new sitcom of next season." According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, Trash "has been in development at the WB Network for two years" and is now going ahead to the pilot stage as a Regency Television and Sony Pictures Television production. Trash has been "described as a Coen brothers-style take on the 'Romeo and Juliet' tale," adds the Reporter. (Thanks to Becky and Kat for the information on Trash)
[15 Feb 03] *** Sci-Fi Channel moves The Sentinel to 10:00am ET in mid February *** Keep up with Richard as Jim Ellison when The Sentinel moves to an earlier spot on the Sci-Fi schedule, airing Monday to Friday at 10:00am ET/PT.

[15 Feb 03] *** Keep an eye out for Richard when CBS repeats "The Second Man" and "Good-bye, Jenny" -- The District, airing at 9:00pm ET/PT Saturdays on CBS *** Richard returned to The District in December 2002, once again playing Captain Vincent Hunter in "The Second Man."  "During a struggle, deputy chief Noland shoots a college student he believes is about to rob a convenience store with a gun, but the ensuing investigation doesn't turn up a weapon. Soon, Internal Affairs demands that Noland be suspended, but Mannion refuses to take his badge. Also, the student's wealthy parents threaten to bring charges against Noland." Richard's most recent episode of The District aired initially on Saturday, January 18th. Titled "Good-bye, Jenny," it is his ninth episode so far of the hit CBS drama. The TV Guide online description (available at http://www/tvguide.com ) reads as follows:  Richard's Captain Vincent Hunter becomes involved when it becomes evident that the evidence tampering was an inside job. As Officer Nancy Parras (Elizabeth Marvel) was the last person on record to have handled the cocaine, she becomes Hunter's initial focus. In the "small, small world" category, one of Richard's "Johnny on the Spot" costars -- Helen Cates -- also appears in this episode of The District, playing ballistics expert Carol Bodine. No word so far as to whether Richard will be in any additional 2002-03 season episodes of The District. ** French fans, look for Richard every Sunday at 3:30pm on Channel 2 ** The District recently joined the lineup on France's Channel 2, where it is known as "Washington Police." [08 Jan 03] *** Richard's Michael Cassidy returned to bedevil his ex, Judge Amy Gray, in "The Best Interests of the Child" -- Tuesday, January 21st at 10:00pm ET/PT on CBS ***  "Amy (Amy Brenneman) is prepared for the worst as the bitter battle for custody of Lauren (Karle Warren) finally nears an end. Among the first to testify at the hearing is Lauren's father, Michael (Richard Burgi), who serves his own self-interests by effectively arguing that his ex has demonstrated a lack of parenting skills in the past year. To improve her client's chances of winning, Amy's lawyer (Caroline McWilliams) advises putting the 10-year-old on the stand to say she wants to live with her mother -- an idea Amy adamantly opposes. Meanwhile, Maxine continues to rationalize that keeping her distance from Eric before her former charge stands trial for murder is in his best interest." This most recent episode is Richard's fifth so far of the popular CBS drama. His previous episode of Judging Amy, titled "People of the Lie," took Michael and Amy (Amy Brenneman) further down the road towards a messy custody battle for their daughter Lauren (Karle Warren). Interestingly, another of Richard's "Johnny on the Spot" costars also appeared in this episode -- Miriam Flynn played the part of Amy's new interior decorator, "Winky." Richard officially returned to Judging Amy as Michael Cassidy in the Fall 2002 season premiere, "Lost in the System," which aired on October 1st. [15 Feb 03] *** Remember to catch Richard's guest spot on the hit CBS drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation when the show repeats -- CSI airs Thursdays at 9:00pm ET/PT on CBS ***  Richard plays paragliding instructor Rick Weston in "High and Low," and is a suspect in the death of a hotshot paraglider named Jimmy -- a fellow Weston disapproves of, saying he "lacks discipline."  [15 Feb 03] *** "Wheelmen" still
awaiting finalization of distribution arrangements; no word yet on revised
release date *** "Wheelmen," which stars Richard Burgi as former
hotshot ambulance driver Nick Torino, is currently awaiting a distribution
deal. Once such a deal has been finalized, the movie's release format will
be decided and a release date announced.
Must see items include the gallery of photos (by photographer Jennifer B. Copp) and Quicktime movie clips -- Richard appears several times in both galleries. The Publicity and News pages have been updated and enhanced with both current and previous press releases, an image of the promotional "Wheelmen" poster, a photo and caption from Premiere magazine, and at least one newspaper article on the production. Photos from the August 22nd Arclight Theaters screening are the site's most recent addition. The "Wheelmen" site includes a detailed press release (see excerpts from the press release, as well as other articles, on our "Wheelmen" page ), which provides a comprehensive guide to the film, characters, actors, and production staff, and a new press release announcing a cinema screening of "Wheelmen" for potential distributors (below).

Wheelmen, a raucous limousine company comedy starring Richard Burgi, Michael Fairman, James Avery and Jason Kravits completed production in Los Angeles during a 19 day shoot and will be screened for distributors on August 22, 2002 at the Arclight Theaters Complex (6360 Sunset Blvd.). The film, directed by Dirk Hagen and produced by John Orland, is a Stretchpix, LLC production, Co-Produced by Lexi Alexander and Robert J. Ulrich , line producer on the production was Gary A. Lowe, production design by Robert E. Hummel, casting by Robert J. Ulrich, costume design by Emmy Taylor and Director of Photography, Don E. FauntLeRoy, A.S.C. and Editor Sherril Schlesinger. NICK TORINO (Richard Burgi, Fox's "24" and CBS' "The District"), a former ambulance driver, is the acting patron of floundering Los Angeles limousine service, Venture Limousine. In his care are five other 'wheelmen': PAUL (Michael Fairman, "Dharma and Greg" and "The Practice"), a distinguished gentleman and twenty year vet of the limo world, VLADIMIR (Elya Baskin , Air Force One and Moscow On The Hudson), a Russian ex-bodyguard who's traded in his two pack a day cigarette habit for the strange icy goodness of Slurpees. Venture Limousine wheelmen have been assigned to the Vice President's motorcade unaware that they will become part of the plot to kidnap him. As if putting up with his colleagues wasn't enough, Nick comes to work one day and discovers a little boy from his past named ARTHUR (Alexander Gould, Finding Nemo) waiting patiently for him in his office. After noticing several bruises on Arthur's neck, Nick drops the boy off at Social Services where he meets GWEN (Erin Daniels, One Hour Photo), a loving social worker assigned to Arthur's case. Things get complicated as Nick falls for Gwen, and little Arthur feels the rush of jealousy as he too has a crush on her.

Receiving fan mail through his home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We -- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know where you came across the address by using this e-mail link to the RBFC. While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded
to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts
be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity
those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard
would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to
a local children's shelter or literacy program, or to the Friends
of the Sea Lion Marine Mammal Center .
