[10 May 08] *** Richard
heads to Austin, Texas to film role in "Friday the 13th"*** -- Richard
joins Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural," "Thomas Kinkade's Home for
Christmas"), Derek Mears ("The Hills have Eyes II"), and Nana
Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), among others, in the Platinum
Dunes produced reimagining of the 1980's horror hit, "Friday the
13th."
Richard plays a sheriff in the movie, which is set between the
events of the first and second "Friday the 13th" films; Pamela (Nana
Visitor) Voorhees, Jason's mad, mad mother and the actual killer of
the first film, is dead and already enshrined in Jason's (Derek Mears)
hovel hideaway, while Jason is all grown up and ready to take up his mother's
machete.
Jared Padalecki plays a journalist drawn to Camp Crystal Lake
to chronicle the ghastly events and history of the place; Richard's sheriff
is presumably the long arm of the Law in the Crystal Lake area and may
also be a witness to the gory aftermath of Mother Voorhees' rampage.
As one would expect in a "Friday the 13th" story, the cast is fleshed
out with a selection of young people destined to run afoul of Jason Voorhees
as they snoop about the ramshackle remains of Camp Crystal Lake and engage
in impromptu bawdy romps amidst the ruins.
The film is currently expected to hit theaters on February 13th, 2009.
The Platinum Dunes producers' blog can be found at the Bloody Disgusting
website, which is an invaluable news resource for the horror aficionado.

[14 May 08]*** Richard films episode
of the CW's REAPER ***
-- Richard joined the Vancouver-based
cast of "REAPER" in mid-April for episode 1.17, titled "The Leak,"
which airrd on Tuesday, May 13th at 9:00pm ET.
Richard plays Mike Volta, a soul condemned to hell for the sin
of lust, as evidenced by a lifetime of truly epic womanizing and bed-hopping.
Mike seems charming, personable, and funny, and takes reluctant soul-hunter
Sam's (Bret Harrison) capture of him with surprising grace.
What Sam doesn't realize is that Mike doesn't fear being returned to
hell, as he has someone on the inside -- their DMV demon buddy Gladys
-- who's helping him escape. This doesn't sit well with the Devil
(Ray Wise), who wants the leak plugged once and for all, and wants
Sam to find out who the leak is.
At first, Sam doesn't understand why Satan wants Volta back under lock
and key -- other than his ceaseless philandering, he seems harmless enough.
Then Satan shows Sam the aftermath of Volta's dalliances -- relationships
laid waste and people left dead. When cornered, Volta shows his true, unsavory
colors.
The show is now available for online viewing / download at the CW website's
"REAPER" page (see link below).

[10 May 08]*** Richard returns to
"Desperate Housewives" for May episode ***
-- Richard returns to Wisteria
Lane for a single Season 4 episode, which aired Sunday, May 4th at 9:00pm
ET.
Episode 4.14, titled "Opening Doors," finds Karl (Richard
Burgi) and very pregnant new wife Marisa catching ex-wife
Susan
(Teri Hatcher) unawares as they sign up for the same Lamaze class.
Susan is accompanied by daughter Julie (Andrea Bowen) as husband
Mike
(Jamie Denton), conspicuous by his absence, has a previous engagement.
As if seemingly having been ditched by her husband wasn't bad enough, Susan
looks at Marisa and feels decidedly underdressed in her comfortable, but
stained, sweats. Verbal sparring between the exes ensues, with Karl mixing
news of his good fortune with jabs at Susan.
When the next class rolls around, Susan and Mike come swanning in dressed
to impress. When Karl comments that they're rather overdressed for Lamaze,
Susan spins an improbable tale of their hectic and fabulous social life,
which leads Marisa to lament that Karl never takes her anywhere. Karl,
of course, is not fooled, and has to work to hide a smile when Mike reveals
he has recently been in rehab for abusing prescription drugs.
Their third class finds both Karl and Susan attending solo. Susan, expecting
Karl to gloat and antagonize her, heads him off at the pass by telling
him his life is wonderful while hers is on thin ice. Karl defies expectations
and reassures Susan instead, telling her Mike *will* be there for her in
all the ways he, Karl, never was.

[10 May 08]*** Richard films commercial
for 2008 Cadillac DTS DeVille Touring Sedan ***
-- Richard spent
part of late January filming a commercial for the 2008 Cadillac DTS
DeVille Touring Sedan, which is now airing on select network and cable
channels. (The commercial is also available for viewing at the Cadillac
website).
He joins a growing roster of television and film actors -- Kate Walsh
("Grey's Anatomy," "Private Practice"), and Martin Henderson ("The
Ring," "Torque") driving the Cadillac CTS, and Brian Bloom ("Smokin'
Aces," "Drive") driving the Cadillac Escalade -- who have recently filmed
commercials for Cadillac vehicles.
Stylistically similar to those for the Cadillac CTS and Escalade, Richard's
30-second commercial features exciting night-time shots of the DTS (apparently
filmed on roads in the general area of Los Angeles International Airport)
intercut with interior shots of the vehicle and driver. Richard's
dialog is as follows:
"So let me get this straight... I have a comfortable house in the suburbs;
comfortable job with a comfortable office right on the glass; and what,
I'm supposed to squeeze myself into an uncomfortable little car on way
back and forth to my comfortable life? I think... not!"
Richard's commercial is titled "Comfortable" and is available on the
Cadillac website's downloads page at the DTS tab/thumbnail:

[10 May 08] *** "Bailey's
Mistake" airs May 10th on the Hallmark Channel *** -- Catch Richard
in his all-too-fleeting scenes of "Bailey's Mistake" on Saturday, May
10th at 11:00am ET.
Filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada in June 2000, "Bailey's Mistake" premiered
on ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney" in March 2001. "Bailey's Mistake"
was described on the zap2it.com website as "laced with romantic longing,
wistful memories, quirky humor and fantasy."
Richard played Paul Donovan, husband of Linda Hamilton's Liz
Donovan, and father of their two children. Liz is widowed when
Paul -- an adventurous soul -- explores a cave while out hiking; he is
mysteriously killed, and Liz's heartbreak is compounded a week later when
she discovers that Paul had secretly used their savings to buy land on
a small Maine island. (When broadcast, this version of Paul's untimely
death had been replaced with a more mundane -- and only mentioned in dialogue
-- death from a heart-attack while out on a two-mile run).
Liz, still grieving for Paul and feeling betrayed by him, decides to
visit the island and sell the property, taking their two children with
her. Bailey's Mistake, as the island is named, is not what she expects
-- nor are the people they encounter, a group which includes an assortment
of colorful folk claiming to be Paul's long-lost Gypsy relatives.
Richard's character, Paul Donovan, was only seen briefly in the movie
in a pair of dream flashbacks and a pair of ghostly visitations to his
son. Though more footage appears to have been shot -- the cave exploration
mentioned in the "zap2it" article features in one of Liz Donovan's dreams
--
Disney/Touchstone apparently decided to pare Paul's on-screen time down
considerably.

[10 May 08]*** Richard's episode
of "Just Shoot Me" airs on TBS in May ***
-- Richard plays action hero
-- and Mama's boy -- Robert "The Nomad" Galatin in "Mum's
The Word," airing Friday, May 16th at 2:30pm ET.
Nina Van Horn (Wendie Malick) is returning to the Blush offices
when she literally walks into famed action hero Robert Galatin, who is
filming an episode of "The Nomad" on the sidewalk outside.
Each is immediately smitten with the other and Robert is soon eagerly
pursuing Nina, appearing in the Blush offices with flowers in hand. Nina
accepts Robert's invitation to an evening of romance, never expecting to
be joined by Robert's diminutive, yet domineering, mother.
Natually, the two women are almost immediately at odds, and Nina tells
Robert he must send the aged materfamilias packing if he expects to win
her affections. Robert quickly gives Mother her marching orders and
turns his eye towards the approving Nina. Unfortunately, Mother's hold
on her son is strong, and the sight of her shawl sends Robert reeling,
becoming increasingly frantic and filled with doubt until he is bawling.
When an insistent tapping on the door proves to be Mother, Robert drops
to his knees and wraps his arms around her, crying "Oh, Mother, Mother,
never leave me, never-never!"
Nina takes one look at the shocking tableau and quits the scene in disgust
while Mother Victorious smirks at her.

is to Lilith's unique mystical power, known as Darklight.
As the duo race to slay the creature, they unwittingly expose a treacherous
conspiracy within The Faith itself. Lilith has the power to set things

[10 May 08]*** Richard's episode
of "Seinfeld" to air on TBS ***
-- Catch Richard in "The
Hamptons" on Thursday, May 22nd at 5:30pm ET.
Richard plays Dr. Ben Feffa in "The Hamptons," where he joins
Jerry, Kramer, George, and Elaine at the beachside house of friends who've
recently had a baby. Dr. Ben, the couple's pediatrician, has also invited
along for the weekend.
When Ben describes Elaine as "breathtaking," she is quite flattered,
and soon taken with the handsome doctor. Then she, Jerry, Kramer, and George
get a good look at the baby Dr. Ben has also described as "breathtaking"
-- and realize the child is breathtakingly ugly.
Confused and more than a little alarmed to be described with the same
word as the hideous infant, Elaine frets and kvetches until she finally
works up the nerve to ask Ben exactly what "breathtaking" means to him.
Of course, the conversation does not go well, and Elaine's potential romance
with the good doctor dies a-borning.
Meanwhile, George also manages to derail a potential romance by
fixating on what he perceives as his girlfriend's disappointment with his
impedimenta -- seems a swim in the ocean has resulted in some unfortunate
degree of "shrinkage."

Decoys (2003) DVD [US market version] -- $12.99 (13% discount)
ASIN: B0002J4X3O
Richard plays Detective Francis Kirk in this tongue-in-cheek take on
the "aliens need humans to reproduce" sci-fi theme. Director Matt Hastings
has described "Decoys" as a meeting of "American Pie" and "Species."
There are two versions of the DVD currently available. The US-market
version available through amazon.com does not include the deleted
scenes and bloopers included in the Canadian-market version (see next entry). |

Canadian-market version from amazon.ca
Decoys (2003) DVD -- CDN $13.46 (10% discount)
ASIN: B00029QQRK
New release: 07 June 2005
The Canadian-market DVD includes an assortment of deleted scenes, the
bloopers, a "making of" special, and a photo gallery. The deleted scenes
help explain some aspects of the film which are confusing or vague in the
theatrical release, and Richard's scenes and bloopers are hilarious. |

Richard appears in the episode "The Message" as Lt. Womack, an unscrupulous
Alliance Enforcement officer. Womack is after an old war buddy of Malcolm
and Zoe's and is quite determined to get what he's after.
Had the series continued, Womack would probably have become a recurring
character. |

[10 May 08] *** Write to Richard care of
the RBFC! *** -- Richard has asked us to encourage anyone interested in
sending cards or letters to him to use the RBFC mailing address, which
is listed below. This allows Richard to better handle
his incoming mail, which he certainly enjoys receiving, provided it comes
through appropriate channels.

We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be
sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his
home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially
from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across
what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We
-- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us
know where you came across the address by using this e-mail
link to the RBFC.
While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded
to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts
be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity
those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard
would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to
a local children's shelter or literacy program, or to the Pacific
Marine Mammal Center . |
